Trishaw Rides
Trishaws have been used in Asia for centuries and we have one here in Hartley Wintney. Unlike the original models, which relied on pedal power, ours is powered by a rechargeable battery, which makes it much easier for the driver!
We have a team of trained volunteers, who are available to people with limited mobility to get out and about within the village. For example, one resident has gone to the pet shop at the other end of the village from where he lives and has also been up on Hazeley Heath. Another went to the Vaughan Millenium Orchard to picnic with a friend.
Others might want to go round the grounds or have tea at the Elvetham Hotel; visit Hazeley Heath; their loved one’s grave at the St Mary’s Burial Ground; or just be taken for a trip around the cricket ground and down to Causeway Pond and the Golf Club. We have no fixed ideas so welcome suggestions.
We are able to take people on the trishaw whenever we have a volunteer free to drive. Some of the team are still working but not all full time, but one is retired, so we will do what we can, given a few days’ notice.
Trips are free because of commercial sponsorship which we have secured.
